We're looking forward to making a big splash for the campaign by marching in the Harrison Rally Day Parade on Saturday, September 12! We hope you can join us—we need 100 marchers! Parents, employees and students (with parent) are encouraged to join us! Please bring your friends!

We'll be meeting at 9:20 a.m. for the parade lineup on Louisiana Ave. near 5th Street at the corner of the Commodore lawn. Please wear your Jacket Pride gear and we'll provide signs for you to carry. We'll also be taking photos to use on upcoming postcards, etc.

Please respond to this message if you can join us at the parade or RSVP via Facebook. Let us know if you have any questions and thanks so much for your support!

School Board recognizes Campaign Committee

The Perrysburg Board of Education recognized the Citizens for Perrysburg Schools 2015 Permanent Improvement Levy Campaign Committee at today's meeting:

  • Missy Madigan          Chair
  • Eric Benington            Treasurer
  • Rachel Johnson           Campaign Manager/Communications
  • Dave Madigan             Door-to-Door
  • Tim Laird                    Letters to the Editor
  • Brett Queen                Mini Billboards
  • Carol Russell               Data Management
  • Starr Wlodarski           Absentee Voter Outreach
At the June 15, 2015 meeting, the Perrysburg Board of Education voted unanimously to place a 1.9-mill, five-year permanent improvement levy renewal on the November 3, 2015 ballot. The current five-year levy is set to expire on December 31, 2015 and the Board is asking voters to renew the expiring levy at its current rate.

This permanent improvement levy is designed to preserve our community’s school buildings, replace aging buses and enhance safety at Perrysburg Junior High and Perrysburg High School. This is not a new tax. This levy renews a five-year 1.9-mill levy passed in 2010, which expires at the end of the year. The rate will remain the same. It will collect approximately $1.5 million annually and will continue to cost the owner of a $200,000 home $9.70 per month. Perrysburg Schools first passed a permanent improvement levy in 1980 and has renewed it every five years since that time.

Permanent Improvement funds can only be used for maintaining buildings, purchasing buses and educational equipment. They cannot be used for salaries or the day-to-day operations of the school district. Without this levy, money for such things as repairs, buses, boilers and roof maintenance would come from the general fund, leaving less money to continue our educational program.

Campaign Committee Chair Missy Madigan and her husband Dave have lived in the Perrysburg area for nearly 12 years. Missy is passionate about her family and enjoys volunteering within the various groups her three children have joined. She has served in leadership roles for many area organizations including La Leche League, Moms Club, Girl Scouts, Greater Toledo Gymcats & Y’s Guys as well as serving as the Toth Elementary PTO president for the past five years. She has chaired many fundraising and social events for Toth during her time spent as president. A University of Toledo graduate and Ohio Licensed Social Worker, Missy works as a Home Health Medical Social Worker and Geriatric Care Manager in the community.
